So ive been trying to run my bike ('88 ninja 600r) since i got it and im still having no luck.

We can start her with the choke on, and sometimes she revvs up to about 5k, but if i blip the throttle it kills it.

a friend was playing with the idle screw to try and help, but he messed with it so much that i cant find a sweet spot to have it start with the choke anymore.
is it just flooded?

im new to carburetors and this haynes manual isnt helping.

any tips?
im really so frustrated i feel like taking her to a shop, but i cant afford it. Pls help! It was such a nice day out today, and i gotta ride or im gonna burst.

thanks

sounds like carb cleaning time (pilot jet is clogged) or your not getting enough gas to the carbs. (float/needle sticking/clogged) Did it sit in the garage over the winter or for more than a month or two and THEN the problem started? I had the same problem with my dirtbike after sitting in the shed for the summer.
Green crap all over the brass parts and the pilot circuit was COMPLETELY clogged... had to tear down and overhaul the carb.
