I was going to adjust the points and timing on my 74 honda cb360 this morning. when i took off the alternator cover, motor oil poured out. when i put the bike on the center the stand the oil stopped pouring out. does this mean A) some seal is broken and its a bigger problem or B) I should have just started the job with the bike on the center stand or C)something else. its seems like the alternator shouldnt be swimming in motor oil but i am teaching myself as i go so i dont really know. thanks in advance for your help. -sam

I think is B. The bike centered and you should be ready for business!

I did it and the thing finally runs great! its hard doing it all from the manual but worth it. I also filed and adjusted the points; now it runs even better. This week i am buying an 83 Vf750c that needs the carbs cleaned. I'll post a new thread if i need any help. the 360 is great in town bike but i am trying to get down the shore this summer.
